Expert - Internationalization and Woman Empowerment - United Arab Emirates University

Description : Expert - Internationalization and Woman Empowerment. Company : United Arab Emirates University. Location : Al-Ayn

United Arab Emirates University invites applications for the position of Expert– Internationalization and Woman Empowerment.
United Arab Emirates University is the principal university of the UAE. It was the first federal university to be founded (in 1976) and is therefore approaching its 50th anniversary. UAEU remains the only fully comprehensive university in the UAE. It is situated in the historic city of Al Ain, which is about 100km inland from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. UAEU is in the process of transitioning into a research-intensive institution to be fit for its second half-century. It enrolls approximately 15,000 students, with a growing international student body.

The UAEU is a fully comprehensive university with a highly international faculty (currently there are faculty members from 77 countries). The University would like to build its international reputation by establishing partnerships with other like-minded universities. Currently UAEU holds the presidency of the Asian Universities Alliance, it is accredited by the Western Association of School and Colleges and many of its programs are accredited by relevant international organizations. Despite this the University feels that it could further enhance its international reputation, brand, and relationships. This could be (and is not limited to) building relationships with other universities, membership of other associations of universities both in the region and globally, arranging student exchange programs and dual degree programs. The University also aims to increase the number of international students studying on the Al Ain campus. UAEU therefore seeks someone to lead this broad internationalization campaign.

Alongside the internationalization portfolio UAEU this role will work to create meaningful vocational training opportunities for woman, and to implement the Women’s Empowerment Program which seeks to empower women to reach short term and long-term goals through one-on-one counseling and training, connecting women to existing services and removing barriers. UAEU has a predominantly female student body (ca75% of undergraduates are female) however this is not reflected in the composition of the faculty (264 female compared to 699 male). We seek someone to lead our EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) initiative. UAEU wishes to ensure that it creates a work environment that presents equal opportunities for all and eliminates barriers to success.
